Effectiveness of digital interventions in hospital healthcare quality: A systematic review in high-complexity latin american contexts
Main Article Content
Abstract
Strategic management of healthcare quality in high-complexity hospitals has undergone significant transformations due to the incorporation of digital technologies, whose impact requires systematic evaluation within the Latin American context. This study aimed to assess the reported effectiveness of digital interventions on healthcare quality indicators in high-complexity Latin American hospitals. To this end, a systematic review article was developed following the PRISMA methodology guidelines, using a structured search in the Scopus database, complemented by manual review and grey literature, applying predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results showed that digital interventions, especially those based on artificial intelligence, electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, and telemedicine, exhibited a predominantly positive trend in improving patient safety, operational efficiency, and clinical outcomes, although their effectiveness varied depending on the implementation context. It was concluded that, while digital technologies are key tools for improving the quality of care, their effectiveness depends on organizational, technological, and contextual factors, which implies the need for comprehensive strategies that ensure their proper integration into health systems.
