Retos y oportunidades de gestión de suministro y disponibilidad de medicamentos en establecimientos de salud en latinoamérica: Una revisión literaria

Resumen
La presente revisión literaria analiza los retos y oportunidades de la gestión del suministro y la disponibilidad de medicamentos en establecimientos de salud de Latinoamérica. El estudio parte del reconocimiento de que el acceso oportuno a medicamentos esenciales continúa siendo una problemática relevante para los sistemas sanitarios, especialmente en contextos marcados por desigualdades territoriales, restricciones presupuestarias, fragmentación logística y limitada capacidad de respuesta ante situaciones de desabastecimiento. Metodológicamente, se desarrolló una revisión cualitativa de literatura científica, orientada por la estrategia PICO y lineamientos PRISMA, considerando investigaciones publicadas en bases de datos de alto impacto como Scopus, ScienceDirect y SciELO. Los hallazgos evidencian que los principales desafíos se relacionan con deficiencias en la planificación de la demanda, debilidades en la gestión de inventarios, escasez de personal especializado, procesos de adquisición poco transparentes, limitada trazabilidad y dependencia de proveedores externos. No obstante, también se identifican oportunidades significativas, como la implementación de plataformas digitales, sistemas de monitoreo en tiempo real, tecnologías de trazabilidad, fortalecimiento de la producción local, compras centralizadas, capacitación del personal farmacéutico y creación de inventarios estratégicos. En conclusión, mejorar la gestión del suministro de medicamentos requiere políticas públicas integrales, innovación tecnológica, cooperación interinstitucional y mecanismos de control que permitan garantizar una disponibilidad continua, equitativa y segura de medicamentos esenciales en los establecimientos de salud latinoamericanos
