Internationalization or institutional evaluation of Social Research

Abstract
This essay reviews some of the particularities and meaning attributed to the phenomenon of the internationalization of social research and the institutional purposes of its evaluation, differentiating some of the features that this phenomenon acquires in the Latin American region. The approach is not limited to the institutional framework and the criteria of organization and operation that have historically regulated the research activity, but rather it is proposed to do so from a perspective where the international character lies in the possibilities of the academic communities to occupy positions in those spaces where questions are posed, and where debates of global importance take place. With this objective, such a proposal is outlined based on two axes of analysis: a) the interpretative consequences on the link between internationalization of research and institutionalized evaluation, and b) the notion of internationalization based on the innovative nature of knowledge, and its correlation with the transformations and new demands of the social environment.
