Abstract
The great demographic changes that society faces in relation to the appearance of new endemic diseases, as well as the contrasting technological and globalized progress, make it necessary to have a Nursing professional with a wide formation of knowledge, ideas, experiences, skills and actions, that guarantees care that helps to preserve and maintain the life of patients. The present qualitative study allowed to carry out research on a nursing cover in the 21st century, and challenges that it has faced in the workplace in the face of emerging diseases and the covid-19 pandemic and its perspective towards scientific, technological and methodological advances. that established the profession. This analysis made it possible to demonstrate that today's Nursing professionals form teams of effective response leaders, who have demonstrated their professionalism and absolute dedication in all fields, contributing their knowledge, experience, competence and discipline in the area, with the ability to adapt to historical changes, being capable of transforming its role to the demands of increasingly demanding social needs.
