The government center in Chile: A history of comings and goings

Abstract
This summary addresses the development of the government center in Chile, an essential concept in the management and direction of public policies. This component of the High Government has experienced an evolution marked by advances, setbacks and periods of stagnation, reflecting the political and administrative dynamics that have characterized the different stages of the modernization of the Chilean State. The research is based on an exhaustive analysis of the academic and documentary literature, exploring the characteristics, functions and challenges of this structure in the Chilean context. It is highlighted how the center of government has been key to the strategic coordination and effective implementation of public policies, although it has also faced limitations derived from political, administrative and conceptual changes. Methodologically, the study is based on the critical review of theoretical and empirical sources, allowing to identify the factors that have influenced the comings and goings of this institutional mechanism. The results underline the importance of the center of government as a central axis in state governance and its potential as a tool to improve the efficiency and coherence of public policies in democratic contexts
