Editorial Cost
The Editorial Costs that each Author and/or Reader covers in the Refereed and Indexed Scientific Journals is a topic of constant discussion in the scientific community, since it is well known that the person most interested in there being editorial visibility is the author himself, guaranteeing no only the dissemination of knowledge itself, but also the creation or establishment of a reliable record of research contributions before the scientific community; This is where we start from covering editorial visibility.
Generally, it is thought that open access is a form of publication that does not generate any dissemination costs, which is far from reality, since editorial costs such as marking in indexes, arbitrations, hosting of electronic journals (Domain and Hosting), and even the administration of editorial platforms such as OJS (Open Journal Systems), must be covered by a sponsor or collaborator. Below are the five (5) ways or routes that lead us to the long-awaited Open Access; It should be noted that the Green and the Gold were established in the Budapest Declaration, made from June 26 to July 1, 1999, organized by UNESCO-ICSU, within the framework of the World Conference on Science for the 21st Century. .
Ways or Routes to Open Access:
Green: This type of access consists of self-archiving or self-deposit in repositories by the authors of scientific productions, usually institutional; these repositories may or may not require review of the material. Generally these Magazines are not free or publicly accessible.
Golden: This type of access consists of publication in Scientific Journals whose review is preferably by peers, the contents are under copyright licenses, where the author maintains authorship; There is no cost for visibility or subscription. Journals usually require payment for publication costs by the authors, the so-called APCs (Article Processing Charges).
Hybrid: This type of access consists of the publication by the authors of scientific productions in Open Access Journals (without cost of visibility or subscription by readers), publication costs or also called article processing expenses. APCs (Article Processing Charges) are covered by the authors. This option is known as Open Choice.
Bronze: This type of access consists of the publication by the authors of scientific productions in free-to-read Magazines, these publications have the characteristic of being without an explicit open license that allows their distribution and reuse.
Diamond: This type of access, also called Platinum, consists of the publication by the authors of scientific productions in free-to-read and/or subscription magazines, where the editorial costs are generally covered by academic, governmental institutions or scientific societies.
In this sense, the Aula Virtual Magazine has assumed the Open Access format under the Golden route, allowing publication costs to be covered with the contributions of the Authors, guaranteeing the sustainability and visibility of the Magazine over time.
Scientific productions to be received in the Aula Virtual Magazine and published from Vol. 6, No. 13, of the year 2025, will have a cost of $350 USD; said contribution can be sent by PayPal at https://www.paypal.me/fundacionaulavirtual or using the PayPal email pagos@aulavirtual.web.ve, you can also use our Donation Button at https://ko-fi.com/fundaciona or in our bank account in Venezuela at Banco 100x100, Current Account: 0156-0035-79-0201766886, RIF: J-40402082-9 (Fundación Aula Virtual).
In order to begin the review process and submit the Letter of Publication, the editorial cost must be paid in full.
If there is an error in the Proof of Publication or an article already published for reasons beyond the journal's control (personal data), there will be an increase of $50.00 USD for updating the DOI, as long as the article is not yet in Scielo. If the article is already published in Scielo, you must pay $25 USD for platform management and $50 USD more for Scielo marking.
To give transparency to this process, the segregation of the costs that will be covered with the contributions of the Authors is indicated below:
30% Marking in specialized indexes and XML preservation
30% Review and arbitration procedure
20% Web Platform Administration (Domain and Hosting)
10% Layout and galleys (PDF, HTML, ePub and XML)
10% Unique Identifier Expenses (DOI by ZENODO)
Authors can contract other services with our Virtual Classroom Foundation that help them improve their Scientific Production, such as: the “Writing and Style Correction Service” and/or our “Scientific Product Writing Course”; These services are totally independent of publication costs.
Fundación Aula Virtual requires your donations to keep the Aula Virtual Magazine operational. Your collaboration will help pay for the technological platform and incentive for the referees and staff who review scientific productions.
