Eficacia de los programas preventivos de la salud bucal en gestantes y la gestión sanitaria en sudamérica: Una revisión literaria

Resumen
La salud bucal durante el embarazo representa un componente crucial para el bienestar materno-infantil, sin embargo, continúa siendo un aspecto subpriorizado en muchos sistemas sanitarios de América del Sur. Bajo este enfoque, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la eficacia de los programas preventivos de salud bucal en gestantes, así como analizar los factores de gestión sanitaria que condicionan su implementación en Sudamérica. La metodología se sustentó en una revisión sistemática de 53 artículos científicos indexados en Scopus, Web of Science y ScienceDirect, comprendidos principalmente entre 2020 y 2024, e identificados mediante descriptores temáticos específicos en español e inglés. Los resultados revelan que los programas iniciados durante el embarazo logran mejorar el conocimiento materno, las prácticas de higiene oral y reducir significativamente la prevalencia de caries en la infancia temprana, especialmente cuando se integran a la atención prenatal. No obstante, persisten desafíos estructurales como la fragmentación de los sistemas de salud, la limitada formación del personal no odontológico y la falta de normativas institucionales. Se concluye que, para lograr una implementación sostenible y equitativa de estos programas, resulta esencial fortalecer la planificación estratégica, asegurar la asignación presupuestaria y fomentar la integración interprofesional en los niveles primarios de atención
